Pour "concrete coffin" to prevent the spread of radioactive substances is one of the government measures applied Ukraine nuclear disaster 29 years ago.

Fallout spread to many parts of the western Soviet Union, Eastern and Western Europe, Scandinavia, Great Britain and the eastern United States.Ukraine, Russia and Belarus are places heavily influenced. Disasters caused 31 people were killed instantly and 400,000 people have been evacuated. 5/1986 early May, though radiation levels are extremely high level of force to solve the consequences of the explosion are still brave to perform the tasks. Do not have the necessary protective equipment and unknown danger level, many volunteers were exposed to radiation. According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Soviet Union has mobilized more than 6,000 forces to Chernobyl to overcome consequences of the explosion. Photo: Wikipedia |

After the incident, officials have poured a "concrete coffin" around reactor number 4 to prevent 190 tons of radioactive dust spread further into the environment. However, over time and due to the effects of radioactive substances, casings that are degraded.Authorities Ukraine will build new steel casing, domed shape with a height of 105 m, 150 m in length and 260 meters width around reactor number 4. The new envelope will survive about 100 years and the cost of construction built it in about 1.3 billion euros. They call the new guise as the "sarcophagus". Under the plan, the process of building it began in 2010 and will end in 2015. However, projects often delayed due to many reasons. Photo: BBC |
